Message from Prof. Michel Rochat
CEO EHL Group
"2020 has been a challenging year for all of us. And as it comes to a close, it is traditional to look back, learn and grow from our experiences.
And this year, there have been many, good and bad. But while we could dwell on the difficulties we have endured, at EHL we chose to embrace the positive changes we have been through. We have adapted and we have evolved our ways of educating and living as a community to feel even more united than before.Throughout 2020, we adapted.
We reinvented our education model and our collaboration tools for a digital world. We re-defined a role for our buildings and campus as a place to learn to live together. We were resilient.
We were blessed by an unrelenting flow of aspiring students who decided to join our Bachelor degree in September. We were blessed to have been able to continue delivering the same level of quality to our students through our Hyflex education system, allowing them to enjoy the facilities and learn remotely on a rotation, while maintaining high standards of protection against COVID-19. We've implemented similar solutions in Passugg where the faculty continued to deliver even the practical classes through video streaming. We launched our first Digital Summer Academy, and virtualized all our events, including the graduation ceremony and career fairs.
Singapore is now ready to welcome the first cohort of students as the renovations have been completed. Our new campus in Lausanne will soon be ready to bring us all closer. We stayed connected as a family, we helped each other, students, alumni and staff members, and tried to help the hospitality industry bounce back with some free resources and online courses.
And as we adapted, we grew stronger, closer, more united.
All this work was celebrated through our new Great Place to Work certification, our top employer award in the region and our renewed Michelin star for the Berceau des Sens.As 2020 has come and gone, it has left us with some defining questions.
Who knows what the future of work will look like? Who knows how we will interact with colleagues or customers and what careers will exist that haven’t been invented yet? One thing is for sure: professionals in the future will still have to be adaptable, agile, emotionally intelligent and creative. These are the core building blocks of EHL and we will continue to foster them to prepare our students for the future. As 2020 has come and gone, it has left us more eager than ever, more united than ever and more prepared than ever for a new year full of potential.
2021, here we come!"
